You can clean the dish rack, sometimes the coating will fall off of the racks, and they can corrode and rust. There are repair kits that can be found in your local appliance store. The spray arm located inside the dishwasher will get clogged with maybe paper, toothpicks or glass. If the arm is clean then it will be able to spray your dishes better and you will get a better performance.

The better care you take of your dishwasher the longer it will last. With prices these days, the last thing you will want to do is spend a lot of money on dishwasher repair or even worse a new dishwasher. For the money you will spend on the rust remover or the deodorizer or even a filter. It a fraction less of what you could spend taking care of the dishwasher once a week.
