Remove the motor from the pump housing and then remove the through bolts on the motor so you can remove the armature from the casing.

You know need to remove the bearings from the motor shaft and replace them with the new bearings that are hayward replacement parts to make sure you have the best quality parts during your tune up.

Once you have removed and replaced the bearings on th motor armature, you can go ahead and put the armature back inside the motor housing and tighten the through bolts back up , then reconnect the motor to the wet end of the hayward superpump.

  • Step Two:

  • Replacing the Hayward superpump seal

Replacing the seal on your superpump will save you from costly repairs during mid season or when you least expect it. To replace the seal you will have to remove the pump lid, and the pump housing from the motor.

One you have the pump housing removed from the pump you will have to un-thread the impeller from the motor shaft, and the remove the seal housing that is attached to the motor.

The hayward replacement seal will have two parts, one will be the face of the seal and the other will be the spring assembly. Remove the spring assembly from the impeller and replace it with the new one.

Take the face of the seal out of the seal housing and replace it with the new one, but please note that you may want to coat the back rubber side of the seal face with some silicon to make sure you get a 100% seal on the back of the face.

Now that you have replaced both parts of the seal you can go ahead and re assemble the impeller, and the pump housing by reversing the directions that explained how to take the pump housing apart.

  • Step Three:

  • Replacing the Gaskets and Plugs on the Superpump

In this step you will replace the hayward superpump top cover lid gasket and the pump housing drain plugs, these are also two of the most reason for having air in your swimming pool lines.

To change the cover gasket simply unscrew the two knobs on the cover, and remove the lid and then you will see the gasket that is tucked into the pump housing. To remove just catch an edge with a screwdriver or an all and pull the gasket out gently. To install the new gasket, just push the gasket firmly into place from where the old gasket was sitting.

The last step will to simply unthread the two drain plugs from the hayward superpump housing and replace them with two brand new drain plugs.

If you have followed all these step you know have a 100% complete tuned up hayward superpump that is ready to give you a full season of hard work without the mess of breaking down in mid season.
