Leaking Washing Machine Spickets

It is never pleasant to deal with a leaking washing machine, no matter the reason. The problem is that most of us will notice the leak after it did create a big puddle around the washing machine. This is because it is logical to leave the device working and doing something else in the meantime. A lot of individuals keep their washing machine in the basement so again it is hard to notice until it already leaked a lot.

People tend to attack the inspector as a leak that was missed but this is not the case because when we are dealing with a leaking washing machine spicket the device needs to be turned on and connected together with the water being on as well. The good news is that most of these leaks can be taken care of by simply tightening the packing nut you find under the handle. Also, if this does not work we could just replace the entire mechanism. The bad news is that in some cases we can only replace the operating parts but only if we get to have spickets that are exactly of the same type as the ones that must be replaced. The only other alternative would be to replace the entire valve and unfortunately this usually means that the wall needs to be opened.

What you should do is analyze whether or not the leak is noticed only when the washing machine is working. One of the signs of dealing with a leak at the level of cold or hot water valves is a constant leak. This is because these valves are always pressurized so there would be no reason to only show a leak when using the machine. What you need to do is turn the valves off and fill the entire device with the use of a regular garden hose. Run it and take a look if you still have a leak. If you notice that the washing machine is leaking during the emptying process, there is a big chance that your drain is leaking and not your spickets. If you have such a leak the water would go under the machine and you would notice it even with the valves turned off. If you still do not come to a conclusion the only real thing you can do is call a plumber so that a specialist opinion can be issued as it is needed. We wouldn’t want you opening the wall and finding all is fine!
