Grease Traps

Grease Traps are traps that capture grease that enters into a system before they can reach the sewer lines. The most common place a grease trap would most likely to be found is in commercial applications such as restaurants and cafeterias. Baffles in the trap slow the flow of waste and allows the grease and water to separate.

Grease traps like any other plumbing supply part comes in many different sizes, the grease traps can range from 4 GPM to 100 GPM and the Lo-Pro Grease traps range from 20 GPM to 50 GPM, the Acid Resistant grease traps range from 4 GPM to 50 GPM and then there are the solid Interceptors that have 15 GPM with a 1 inch and a 1-? inch inlet and outlet.

You may find the Solid Interceptors with a 15 GPM with a 2 inch inlet and outlet or the Solid Interceptor with 30 GPM with 1 and 1-? inch inlet and outlet or the Solid Interceptor with 30 GPM with a 2 inch inlet and out. These are not grease traps but they do the job in catching solids.

To ensure that you are purchasing the correct trap you should know the size of the sink that the trap will be installed in. Grease traps are usually found in 2 places, either under the sink or buried in the ground. In order to figure out what trap you will need you have to do the following: First you have to multiply the length in inches, the width in inches and the height in inches, Step Two: divide this number by the number 231 and Step Three: multiply that number by .75.

This total will equal the number of the GPM. If you do not have a great amount of grease them you can divide that number by 2.
